Head Start Training: Mandatory and Unpaid
I just received an email from Head Start stating that I have mandatory training for three days next week. After replying to the email to ask whether we would be reimbursed for the time, they answered that it is not reimbursable. I want to point out that this appears to conflict with Florida labor law, which only allows working off the clock in very limited circumstances, and here I’m being required to participate without compensation. Essentially, this feels like volunteering, because the meeting is mandatory rather than voluntary.
